Cureton is currently seeking an experienced Corporate Development professional to develop and execute on corporate strategy with a particular focus on M&A and structured transactions. Are you a data driven “facts freak” with a scientific approach to problem solving with a particular knack for strategy and forward thinking? Essential job functions and responsibilities include the following:

  • Research and develop a comprehensive strategy and investment theses in the various segments of the oil & gas industry
  • Develop and nurture industry relationships
  • Source and originate opportunities and transactions consistent with set out strategy and overall company objectives and values
  • Lead and execute transactions from sourcing to closing to integration
  • Manage a team of finance and business development professionals to develop processes for efficient and effective deal evaluation and due diligence
  • Research and analyze activity in the Company’s focus areas and possess ability to develop new relationships
  • Identify decision-makers and influencers in potential customer organizations and maintain those relationships
  • Lead cross functional teams across the organization to ensure comprehensive deal evaluation and execution
  • Lead financial analysis and modeling efforts to develop economic evaluations as well as scenario and sensitivity analyses
  • Provide expertise and knowledge around deal structure, financing options and legal oversight
  • Manage transaction review and approval process with Cureton Executive Management Team and Board of Managers
  • Lead integration initiatives post-closing to ensure appropriate value creation for the pro forma company
  • Assist in finance and corporate development subject matters on existing Cureton investments
  • Help develop strategy and vision across the broader organization as a part of the Cureton Leadership Team

Computer Skills

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications including Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint are a must.  

Advanced financial modeling experience is a must.

Required Education & Experience

  • MBA or a similar advanced degree
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in North American energy.
  • Minimum (3) years in Investment Banking, Private Equity, or Corporate/Business Development role for an energy operating company

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Corporate or Business Development capacity in the midstream and downstream sectors of the energy industry
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in capital markets, and traditional and alternative debt and equity products

Position Summary: You will be responsible for the day-to-day relationship of the company’s customers. Inclusive of both existing customers and development of new ones to ensure commercial contracts and other related documents including amendments, updates, change requests and new business opportunities are serviced and carefully managed. This person will play a key role in the ongoing origination, execution, optimization, and management of the asset’s commercial portfolio.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Work with customers to keep up-to-date drilling forecasts relevant
  • Entertain and keep customers happy with lunch, happy hour and fun out of office events (golf, )
  • Work with Engineering and Operations to make sure all future well connects are being serviced in a timely manner including pipelines and compression
  • Work with Finance to evaluate economic merits of commercial projects and prepare approval materials for management and Board of Directors
  • Support BD/commercial team in the development, management and referencing of Cureton Midstream contracts
  • Develop and nurture industry relationships
  • Communicate with customers on a regular basis to review their specific volume forecasts and compare to internal forecast. Work with planning group to accurately model
  • Engage with customers on a regular basis to understand operational issues and constraints on their
  • Ensure agreements are maintained to reflect all amendments, assignments, notifications, force majeure notifications, etc. and confer with management on upcoming contractual deadlines, amendments and settlements
  • Work closely with legal and management in developing and drafting contract amendments and/or contract notices and prepare contract briefs
  • Interface with accounting and other supporting functions to “on-board” new agreements — i.e. advise supporting departments of new contracts, components, and coordinate with commercial to ensure departments receive needed information relating to contract terms
  • Review monthly customer statements for accuracy and address any issues
  • Ensure contractual dedications are mapped within GIS to reflect existing dedications, updated for new agreements, amendments, terminations, and sales/trades
  • Research contractual commitments and obligations and summarize for review and handling
  • Help manage Cureton’s commercial information through weekly reports to monitor leasing and permitting activities
  • Assist BD/commercial team management with communication and commercial discussions with existing and future customers.
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as reasonably assigned by management
  • Manage customer appreciate events and gifts
  • Possess strong negotiation, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop strong relationships
  • Candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding and appreciation for working in a team environment

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in North American
  • Minimum three (3) years in gas Midstream (gathering and processing) Preferred Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Corporate or Business Development capacity in the midstream and downstream sectors of the energy industry
  • Basic understanding of gas midstream systems (gathering, compression and processing)
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in capital markets, and traditional and alternative debt and equity products
  • DJ Basin experience and relationships preferred
